(More customer reviews)I've looked at gobs of racks to fit our lovely Trek tandem cruiser. These Amsterdam racks from Electra, with their oversized tubing and elegant "swoop" design, were the only thing I found that seemed like a good match.
However, be careful when you're buying these, as they're made specifically to fit Electra bikes, and it may be a challenge to get them to fit anything else. (In fact, I believe these are the only Electra racks that are adjustable in any way.) I couldn't find any specs on these, even on the Electra site or in their catalog. (I even tried calling the company; they were very helpful, but didn't give me completely accurate measurements.) I ended up ordering both the men's and women's versions of the rack from Amazon to find the best fit. Here's what I discovered:
- Racks are slightly different than shown in the picture. There's an additional cross-bar near the front where it bolts to the seatpost.
- These WILL NOT ATTACH to your seat stays, and can't be bent out due to the new extra cross-bar. They'll only work with a seatpost rack clamp. Electra sells 2 sizes, not included with this rack. You can get add'l sizes from other manufacturers that should work too.
- The men's & women's are identical, except that the women's is LONGER by 1". Struts are the same on both.
Measurements:
- Rack length, tip to tail: 21.25" men's, 22.25" women's.
- Strut length: 16.25" from the center of the top pivot point to the center of the bottom bolt hole. Note that the struts have a 45
